The relevance of efficient payment systems is a subject of interest to all stakeholders. This study\r\nanalyzed the challenges to the efficient use of point of sale (POS) terminals in Nigeria. Socio economic\r\ncharacteristics of users and non users were also examined. Cross sectional data were collected from\r\n650 randomly sampled respondents from 20 local government areas of Lagos State, Nigeria. Data\r\ncollected were analyzed using Friedman and Kendall ranking order test. The finding of this study\r\nshowed that that the most challenging factor to the efficient use of POS is network failure, frequent\r\npower outage; limited numbers of POS per merchant store where they are available, security of\r\ncommunication over the network and unavailability of the POS at all merchant stores. Efforts at\r\nimproving the security of transactions is recommended in order to drastically reduce excess cash flow\r\nespecially in developing economies....
This paper deals with the influence of implemented quality and environmental management\r\nsystems ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 on enterprise performance. The paper delivers original results\r\nand comments on realized and processed questionnaire research concerning approx. 700\r\ncompanies operating through Czech and Slovak Republics, called ââ?¬Å?Adaptability of\r\nentrepreneurshipââ?¬Â, financed by Silesian University in Opava. The paper evaluates the difference in\r\nenterprise performances as an effect of implementation of ISO management systems. The\r\nperformance of 4 groups of companies (no ISO implemented, ISO 9000 implemented, ISO 14000\r\nimplemented and both ISO 9000 and 14000 implemented) is compared. 14 criteria were selected\r\nfor evaluation, which can be marked as enterprise sustainability aspects. Three hypotheses were\r\ntested. The results show visible improvement in performance and awareness of selected priorities\r\nat companies with implemented ISO management systems. Problematic and results are discussed\r\nand compared with similar researches published inprofessional literature. The most important\r\nresults of the paper were presented on 19th IBIMA Conference in Barcelona on November 12-13,\r\n2012....
The Malaysian Vision 2020 of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) has gone through a rapid change in\r\ninformation and communication technology (ICT). The government will eventually enhance the service\r\ndelivery and quality of the development process which will allow the government to be more responsive\r\nto the needs of the citizens. The Malaysian government has developed e-government and e-governance\r\nthat have come into prominence. Both terms have been used interchangeably. However, they are quite\r\ndifferent as they have different audience to cater for, especially the different objectives from the\r\nMalaysian government. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the concepts and constructs of\r\nthe e-government and e-governance as well as gauge the relationship between with regard to service\r\ndelivery....
Within the framework of the fast and deep change facing global economy, environmental scanning\r\nbecomes a main driver for competitiveness. It''s an information system directed to the outside\r\nenvironment of the company which plays the role of an intelligent observer who continuously\r\nseeks to supply the managers with useful information for their strategic actions. The creation of a\r\ndevice dedicated to this end becomes nowadays an urgent need; however it is far from being easy\r\nto realize. It is a heavy process which can only develop within the framework of a collective\r\nlearning, registered in a process of knowledge management.\r\nThe survey has shown that in spite of the awareness of the importance of this practice, this activity\r\nremains punctual, unstructured, and especially related to the person of the manager who is\r\nessentially based on his own relational network.\r\nAccustomed to quazi-monopoly of power, the manager remains unmotivated for the idea of making\r\nhis subordinates participate. This would lead us to deduct that the main obstacle facing the\r\ndevelopment of this practice is cultural, related to the values and the convictions which the\r\nmanager shares with his employees. Indeed, environmental scanning is primarily a state of mind\r\nand an attitude before being a means and it is up to managers to know how to mobilize the staff so\r\nthat they adhere to this behaviour....
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pertains to the idea that business activities can affect the\r\nenvironment, society, and economy. The environment and social performance is an important driver of\r\nlong-term sustainability and growth. The concept of CSR has become increasingly popular for\r\nsustainable development. There are calls for CSR information. However, Thai listed companies rarely\r\npublished CSR reports because of difficulty in collecting CSR information. To understand information\r\npresentation practice on CSR reports in Thailand, two listed companies, the Siam Cement public\r\ncompany limited and PTT public company limited were selected for examination. Based on information\r\ndisclosed in 2010, it was found that firms applied Global Report Initiatives (GRI) guideline while\r\ndisclosing their CSR information. Most of information presented was qualitative in nature. It includes\r\nnarrative information, indictors, graphic, and visualize data. So, it is difficult to make comparison about\r\nCSR activities across firms. The results suggest need for innovation development of information\r\nsystem and database of CSR reporting....
The evolutionary theory defines the firm as a set of essential skills, gained from its learning\r\nability. The theoretical assumption that forms the base of this paper is based on the importance\r\nof knowing the relationship between firms in different market, recognized at economic level. For\r\nthis reason the paper was based on a systematic review and critical analysis of the literature on\r\nthe subject which is considered to be a universally accepted assessment technique, used to\r\ncreate a structured summary of previous developments on the theories of the firms. Based on\r\nthe need to address these questions, the objective of this paper is to critically analyze the\r\ntheories of the firm in terms of how they influence the behaviour of the rational entrepreneur.\r\nThe research goal is to identify how they contribute to explaining the evolution of firms and the\r\nperformance differences between them. Using the numerical simulations we can notice that the\r\nsteady states are mean square stable. The analysis of a firms model considering the physical\r\ncapital and the quality of the human capital is analyzed. In this paragraph a random model was\r\nbuilt taking into account that the economic processes have a high degree of uncertainty. The\r\ngraphs described in the present paper show, that the states of the variables are asymptotically\r\nstable in probability. In this perspective the research goal is designing and testing models of\r\nevolution and revealing the firm''s performance in a competitive environment affected by risk\r\nand uncertainty by using mathematical models....
